Todd Lyons, SE Brand Manager, sent in this exciting SE update:
Crooks Flyer SE Bike
In collaboration with Crooks & Castles, SE has re-released the OM Flyer, but this time in a high-end fashion that Crooks & Castles is widely knownfor. This bike is built around the legendary OM Flyer frame & Landing Gear forks. But you’ll quickly notice some defined changes & upgrades such as full size PK bars, white wall tires, full grain leather diamond quilt seat & pads, and Crooks logo parts through out.
Crooks & Castles was started in 2002 to bring a different element into the street-wear realm. With one Flagship store anchored in an upscale West Hollywood neighborhood, the Crooks family plans to expand their retail business to other parts of the nation and eventually the world.
"We're excited to team up with one of the most influential brands in BMX. We came together to create a classic bike that Streetwear and the BMX community will love."
Crooks & Castles Marketing Director
Only 300 bikes were produced worldwide & each bike is individually numbered. The bikes are available now through select Crooks & Castles and SE retailers.

Check out the ABA story below... some PK RIPPER shredders from back in the day are Hall of Fame Inductees!
(From ABA Website) ABA BMX HALL OF FAME ANNOUNCES INDUCTEES FOR CLASS OF 2009
The inductees are Danny Oakley (1960’s and 1970’s pioneer); D.D. Leone (1980’s Professional Racer); Troy Lee (BMX Industry contributor, Troy Lee Designs); R.L. Osborn and Mike Buff (legendary BMX Action Trick Team); Eddie Fiola (freestyle Pioneer); Jeremy McGrath (past BMXer lifetime achievement award).
R.L. Osborn & Mike Buff: Although they are best known as the "Godfathers of Freestyle", both R.L. and Buff got their start as BMX racers. At age 11, R.L. was part of the first ever "BMX test team" for Bicycle Motocross News (from late `75 to late `76). An entrepreneur at the early age of 14, R.L. started up his own company, Hot Stickies. As the son of BMX Hall of Famer, Bob Osborn, R.L. went on to become one of the main test riders for BMX ACTION magazine. In 1978, R.L. teamed up with fellow BMXA employee Bob Haro to form the very first freestyle team, which made its debut at
Eddie Fiola: Eddie is a true legend in BMX and arguably the best rider to EVER ride a skatepark. Eddie is credited with being the first rider to do a 540 in a pipe. Eddy won four " BMX Action Nora Cup" awards and five " King Of The Skatepark" titles. At the time, the " King Of The Skatepark" competitions were as big in the freestyle world as the X-Games and Dew Tour are today. In the early days, Eddie was sponsored by Bottema Forks, SE Racing, Haro, and Premier Helmets. At the end of 1982, Eddie was hired by Kuwahara to design, ride, and promote the E.T. Freestyle bike. Eddie was also the man behind one of the most famous freestyle bike designs to this day, the GT PRO Performer. It had a very unique design for it`s time and is a stand-out among collectors. He also brought the Potts mod to the table by working extensively with Steve Potts. Eddie is credited for taking his idea to Steve who designed the technical end of things. Eddie applied it in the skatepark and the Potts mod is still in use to this day! Eddie was known for running many "different" things than the norm in his day. He ran 1 3/8th wheels in the skatepark when no one else was. He would show up with either an all white, all black, or all yellow bike and uniform with his trademark, an upside down #1, on his back. Eddie toured all over the world and brought freestyle to the masses, performing at BMX tracks, BMX nationals, bike shops, arena`s, and even performed at Anaheim Stadium at the Superbowl of Motocross. You name it, Eddie performed for the fans. But before all that, Eddie was a racer. He was an Orange Y and

I've wanted to build this bike for a while now and finally have the opportunity thanks to a few generous people who I will give major props to when the bike is officially "unveiled"
The bike started out as an 07 Retro 30th Anniversary PK Ripper frame which will be transformed into Mike's 1982 PK Ripper which was my favorite bike of his that I got to work on and dial in for him, when completed the tribute bike will closely resemble the original down to the "Source" decals.
Once the bike is completed it will make the bike show rounds and then be auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds being donated to www.rfar.org on behalf of John Crews, Ride For a Reason is a charity organization that raises money for Parkinson's research. In case you don't know who John Crews is, check out the following links to find out more about John Crews and RFAR.
Oh, I forgot to mention that Mike Buff will be signing the bike and photos will be included.

OLD SCHOOL LEGEND, DEMOS DAVETAS, PASSES AWAY
5/24/2009 Long Beach, CA http://www.nbl.org/NewsDetail.asp?ID=242http://www.nbl.org/NewsDetail.asp?ID=242
Delta Racing Products (DRP) founder Demos Davetas passed away last Tues. He was known for building some very trick race bikes and sponsored some very heavy names in the sport of BMX back in the 70's and early 80's. David Lee, The Davidow Brothers, The Marietti Brothers, Lonnie Tatton, The Creek Brothers and more.
The Rochester International ESL Airshow this weekend featured a group of Rochester area riders who comprise the Extreme Box Jump BMX Demonstration Team... From the F-15 to the Kink BMX bike... the Air was huge. The riders were shredding on Kink BMX bikes (based in Rochester, NY). The riders did all kinds of great tricks off the Box Jump and on the ground including a super-high 360 Tailwhip and a 720. Kids lined up to high-five the riders. The riders also asked for audience participation including lining up a bunch of kids on the ground who were bunnyhopped over several times. Next up were two brave young ladies who sat then stood on top of the Box Jump while the team skied over them! It got a little crazy when two guys sat in wheel chairs (a BMX first) on top of the ramp while team riders jumped overhead. Yes, whether it was the Canadian Snow Bird Demonstration Team, the U.S. Army Golden Knights, The F-18, A-10, or F-15 Demonstration, Acrobatic plane demos, or the RED BULL Sky-Diving Team... the Extreme Box Jump BMX Demonstration held its own! 'Tinnell Memorial Sports Park is a skateboard and bmx park being built in beautiful Lake Havasu City Arizona. It will be Arizona's largest skate / bmx park at around 40,000 sq ft. It will be located just across the street from the aquatic center. The park is being built in memory of Patrick Tinnell, a local bmx enthusiasist who gave his life for his country in Iraq in April 2006. Our local skate park at Rotary Park is just not up with the times for what skaters and bikers need in a park. We have contracted with some huge names for the design and build of this park. California Skate Parks is going to do the build for us and award winning park designer and x- games designer Brian Harper designed this park for us. We've even got the Mayor, Mark Nexsen, involved in our efforts. We need about $1,00,000.00 to make this dream happen and so far we have about 1/3 of that. So take a look at the site, see what's new, get involved, donate -- be a part of something worthwhile for our community.'

3000 spectators had a blast as the world best BMX riders fought their way to the finals in the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup round taking place in Copenhagen on Saturday 9 may 2009.
Copenhagen is bidding to host the 2012 World BMX Championships, and judging by this weekend’s event, the city of Copenhagen and its bicycle-crazy inhabitants are really up for it. The beautiful spring weather certainly didn’t harm the event either.
Approximately 3000 spectators were there for the event, and apart from the expected world class cycling they we’re treated with international djs, live music and spectacular side events. Danish Crown Prince Frederik, an avid sports follower, spent the whole afternoon at the track, obviously enjoying himself all the way through.

2009 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup presented by Swatch
BMX made a successful debut at the Olympics and the sport’s premier International series is ready to take center stage in the post-Olympic era. The UCI BMX Supercross World Cup presented by Swatch served as a stunning preview to the Olympics in 2008 and the new season is about to capture the eyes of a growing number of participants, spectators and TV-viewers around the world. With more than 5,000 spectators at each stop, BMX fans will get a chance to watch a new young, talented group of riders take on the Olympians and tour veterans. More than 150 athletes, both men and women, are expected to compete at each event making it the most competitive year to date.
Last year’s overall Supercross World Cup winner was Donny Robinson from USA. The pint-size powerhouse for California was the most consistent rider throughout the series and also went on to capture Bronze at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. Arielle Martin (USA) won the Women’s division of the Supercross, while the two French athletes, Anne-Caroline Chausson and Laëtitia Le Corguille rode their way into Olympic history by winning the gold and silver medals respectively in Beijing. When the new Supercross season kicks off this May in Copenhagen, expect to see some new faces on the podium from talent-laden countries like USA, France, Netherlands, Australia and many more.
UCI Supercross tracks push the limits of BMX Racing with start hills perched at more than 8 meters that lead into technical, ultra-challenging tracks. The UCI official track builder, Tom Ritzenthaler, works his magic on each track to ensure they all live up to expectations Each race course is designed to showcase the true talent of the athletes and they always feature an exciting combination of big jumps, huge pro sections, carved turns and technical rhythm sections.
The UCI is pleased to announce the 2009 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, featuring four rounds on 3 continents;
