About Me

I am Kevin and have been into BMX since the 70's and i remember when Team Murry came out with a yellow/or tan BMX bike with tube style forks and since that bike I have been hooked. In the 80's I started to race BMX in Illinois and I used a HUTCH EXPERT frame and pro class rims built onto HUTCH hubs and double butted spokes, the bike also had a SR TURBOX crank and sealed bearings suntour XC-II I also had many PK RIPPERS and I remember how the frame would crack under the seat post clam but still the frames where stiff and light. I used to use the PK RIPPER with the HUTCH CR-MO fork. I also had a few GT Performers and a CW freestyle, SKYWAY TA, Patterson, RACE INC both the CR-MO and alloy frames. I miss the CR-MO RACE INC, Had many Mongooses and WEBCO with the magnesium Mags. The best Bike frame to me was the CR-MO Race INC frame with Tange dropout less forks. Anyways now at 40 I wanted to buy a bike and start to freestyle again and could not find any bikes from the past except the JUDGE, SKYWAY TA and the Rippers so I being a expert size frame person bought a Ripper. I had a PK RIPPER with out the loop tail in the late 80's so I figured why not get one the Ripper was the size frame I need. I hate people who think because the PK is not on the frame the frame is not a PK RIPPER when it is a expert size frame.

About Me

I live in Redondo Beach, CA. Always wanted a black/gold Ripper that my friend had when I was a kid. Now that I have a son I built this for me to ride until he can ride my build, about 3-4 years.

Ahhh,finally,2010,I got myself a PK Ripper!! NEVER too late!! I'm 41 years of age and have wanted a Ripper since I was 15. So this spring I found a 2009 PK Ripper "Retro" Looptail, took one look at it and said "Mine"!!! Ahhhh, after 20 years of hardcore mountain biking it feels great to back on a REAL BMX bike-a legend none the less....:D

Looking for some help. I built this for my son. Can anyone tell me what year SE would have made this Ripper? It is "mini" sized. It has original threaded landing gear forks w/ 1-1/8" x 20" rims. No post for rear brakes. I was trying to find an article or something on this bike. Saw a full sized version of this bike, said it was a 1986. Oh, also my boys bike only has a single bolt hole on integrated seat post clamp.
